Metadata Editor Portable
No installation or server is required. The application runs directly in your web browser.
To launch the application:
double-click
Open Metadata Editor
double-click
START_METADATA_EDITOR.html.
First use
- If you received a ZIP file, extract the complete ZIP to a folder first.
- Open the extracted folder.
- Double-click
START_METADATA_EDITOR.html. - The Metadata Editor opens in your default browser.
Important folder rule
Keep START_METADATA_EDITOR.html and the app folder together. Do not rename, move or delete files inside app, because they are required by the portable application.
Using the editor
- Select the metadata profile you need.
- Complete the fields in the editor.
- Use Import to load RDF metadata or to download/fill a profile-aware Excel template.
- Use Generate RDF to review and download the resulting Turtle file.
Privacy and connectivity
RDF/Excel import, Excel template generation, editing and RDF generation run locally in the browser. When you use Validate, the generated RDF is sent to the configured remote SHACL validator. This validation therefore requires an Internet connection.

Troubleshooting
- If the application does not open, right-click
START_METADATA_EDITOR.htmland choose a modern browser such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox. - If you opened the launcher directly inside a ZIP viewer, close it, extract the complete ZIP, and try again.
- If the page is incomplete, confirm that the
appfolder is still next to the launcher.
Portable edition limitations
Remote SHACL validation is available only when the configured validator can be reached. Publication to a catalogue endpoint is not included in the portable edition.
